Murder: Murder was one of the main factors that lead Bigger to stepping out of himself at times, “It was an act of creation!” The quote, “As long as he could take his life into his own hands and dispose of it as he pleased, as long as he could decide just when and where he would run to, he need not be afraid,” is a transition from fear into something deeper and bigger. It is evident that Bigger lacks self-control throughout the novel and when he murders are the only time, he has control. We see this at the beginning with the rat, then with Mary, and finally with Bessie.
