many parents are willing to be part of their learning process. Question: what can I do to support my child's (German) learning?
Knowledgeable - Students' prior knowledge in home languages helps them learn. Parents like to know how to support.
feedback on students learning in all directions seems to be very important to parents too. (triangle student - teacher- parent)
Trust - Online learning provided clarity and they understood better how we teach.
parents are appreciative of the students from other countries to learn the basics of the host country - even if they are EAL and focus is on English
parents were very grateful for everything we do, found the Distance Learning activities for the EY 3/4s just right
some parents also still have a conservative outlook on learning and ask "What level (foreign language learning) does my child have to reach to pass". It is important to communicate our system of assessments and differentiated approach to learning.
Balanced - Some parents need support in how to motivate their children or have routines during online learning.
My daughter has spent a lot of time watching her older brother enjoy coming to the nest - and so when it was her turn to join, she was excited. The excitement has never left. She loves her teachers and the games they play.
Especially now with virtual school, the connection between home and school has never been more important.
Learning is trust of my child in his own abilities, confidence
Learning means when:

Students make connections and discovers things connected to learning outside the school.
Students take actions.
Mistakes are part of the learning process
Parents were also very happy to have their children back at school - definitely the personal connection with others is important for learning!
