How to assess?
By creating a rubric. The rubric helps the students to see which knowledge is central to focus on and it helps the teacher to guide and support the students.
formative assessment takes place during the instruction, through observation of the development of the students' knowledge
summative assessment takes place after the instruction and focuses on assessing what the student has learned
assessment based on interviews to check the knowledge of the pupils (without the intervention of the teacher)

Why to assess?
Writing Task: provides a unique window to students' perceptions and ways that they are thinking about an idea
It's a good manner for the teacher to know what the pupils understand or not and which kind of mistake they can do
To have a record of how students perceive their own strengths and weaknesses and to help modify instructions based on what the students want/need
- Identify where learners are
- Identify the goal for the learners
- Identify paths to reach the goal

Who does the assessment?
The students
They should compare and make connections between strategies and debate ideas in order to assist them in organizing their thoughts, thinking abouth their postion, and analyzing the positions of others
