Rivers and features

Traction is when large heavy pebbles are rolled across the river bed.

Saltation is a specific type of particle transported by fluid. It occurs when lose materials are removed from the bed.

Saltation is fine line material which is carried along the river.

When the minerals in water are dissolved they are carried on in a solution.

Features of upper lower and middle course of a river

In the lower course of the river there is a ls a large amount of discharge and the river has a lot of volume. At this point the river is very wide and there are deltas and floodplains.

The middle course of the river has more energy and a higher volume of water. There are lots of large meanders this is due to the erosion. Oxbow lakes can also be found in the middle course of the river.

Oppurtunities in rio

River Tees

The upper course

The upper course of the river Tees has hard impermeable rock and erosion has formed a v-shaped valley. High force the Uk's largest waterfall is located here at 21 meters tall.

Middle course

As we get to the middle course of the middle Tees we see lateral erosion so meanders form.

The lower course.

In the lower course of the river there is a lot more lateral erosion so the are large meanders. We can also see oxboe lakes situated here. We can also see were the river has flooded that levees have formed. It also has a very large estuary with mudflats and sandbanks.

Rio

Opportunities in Rio

Rural to urban migration accounts to about 65% of all of Rio population growth, which increases urban opportunities.

An increasing work force means an increase in tax which is good so more money can be spent on infrastructure.

Also an increase in population means a more demand in goods which can lead to further employment

Freiburg sustainable living

Water supply

In freiburg water is recycled as much as possible instead of it coming from a resovoir. Homes have rook gardens with facilities for rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling. Other ways freiburg is sustainable in water is that all the rainwater is soaked through the ground so for example they use unpaved tramways, pervoius pavements and drainage wetlands. Water in the river Dreisman which flows through freiburg uses basins to prevent flooding.

Energy consevation

Freiburg has a stict energy policy based on energy saving, efficient tech, and uses of renewable energy recources. The city also plans to be 100 percent energy efficient by the year 2050. For this to happen homes will have to become more energy efficient and so will offices and facotiers. As freiburg is one of the sunniest cities in germany solar pannels are used a lot. There are roughly 400 solar pannels in freiburg. Most of freibburgs renewable energy comes from biomass using wood and oil.

Green spaces

Freiburg has created a lot of green spaces which contributes
economicly and enviromently. This is sustainable as it provides a habitat for wilflife and keeps the air clean.

Rural to urban migration in Rio accounts to about 65% of its population. This is good as there are more people paying taxes which means the govermant can improve on the local infrastructure, it also leads to a demand in goods and services which leads to further employment.

In barzil around 25% of the poorest children do not attend school and the iletercity rate is 4% were as in other places it can be 20%.

Rio also has many more hospitals now which will increase the life expectancy as in brazil the life expectancy is 73 were as in rio it is 77 years.

Rio has also many employment oppurtunities for its residents as it has the second most important industrial centre apart from the one is sao paulo.
