- - - - Scientists say that billions of years ago, the entire universe was one huge, hot, dense mass, and about 13.8 billion years ago, that mass exploded. That great explosion produced a continuous expansion. The extraordinarily dense matter was transformed into a billion pieces that were thrown in all directions, at a speed close to light.
    - - Over time, some masses got closer and were forming what we now know as galaxies. A particular galaxy we are, what today we call THE MILKY WAY
- - - - The first covers almost 4 billion years. The Phanerozoic, on the other hand, spans 560 million years, has three eras and reaches the present time, the Holocene.
    - - Also known as the era of the dinosaurs, saw with its warm climate the diversification and multiplication of animal and plant life on earth.

    - - Covers the last 65 million years, up to the present day. In this period, the collision of Asia with India and Arabia with Eurasia occurs, giving rise to the Alps and the Himalayas. More complex life forms appear: mammals, hominids, Homo sapiens and the modern human being.
