Energy, Refraction and lenses, Renewable and Non-Renewable energy - Coggle…
Energy
Biomass:the dry mass of energy in an organism.
Chemical Store:energy that is stored in food, batteries or fuels.
Conduction:the movement of heat through solids.
Convection:the movement of heat through liquids or gases.
Dissipated:energy that spreads out into the environment.
Elastic Store:energy that stored when an object has changed shape.
Emit:to release or give out.
Energy:the unit of energy is joule (J).
Fossil Fuels:coal, oil and gas formed by dead animals and plants over millions of years.
Gravitational Potential:this type of energy is possessed by anything which can fall.
Infrared Radiation:radiation given off by the sun.
Kilojoule:symbol is KJ 1000J=1KJ
Kilowatts:symbol is KW 1KW=1000W
Kinetic energy:this type of energy relates to anything that is moving.
Nuclear energy:responsible for sending messages around the body.
Radiation:the transfer of heat as a wave.Heat radiation is affected by surface, color and texture.
Renewable:energy sources that will not run out.
Temperature:how hot or cold something is ,measured in 0 C.
Thermometer:a device that can be used to measure temperature.
Watts:unit of power symbol is W.
Is energy that comes from moving water.
Water that flows down fast-flowing rivers is used to spin turbines that generate electricity.
The movement of big waves at sea can also be used to generate energy.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
Is thermal energy generated and stored in the earth.
It is always very warm underground, even if it is very cold on the surface.
We can collect heat from underground and use it to heat our houses.
The lava from volcanoes shows us how hot ot is underground.

-
We use electricity to power lost of things,
such as light, televisions and computer.

-
We need energy to power our cars we use diesel, petrol or electricity for fuel.
-
Mechanical Energy of moving parts, or the sum of kinetic and potential energy in an object that is used to do work
Electrical
Movement of electrically charged particles, such as electricity and lightning
Light
Travels in waves and is formed through chemical, radiation, and mechanical means
Thermal
Energy that comes from the temperature of matter. "Thermal" means heat
Sound
Travels in waves and is produced when a force causes and object or substance to vibrate

Oil Energy If we keep using oil there will eventually be none left Nuclear energy Nuclear power doesn't produce much waste so it is a very clean way of generating energy Gas Energy The gas that we pump from underground will one day run out and there won't be any left to use.
Refraction and lenses
A lens:Is a curved piece of glass or transparent plastic that refracts light and can make objects look bigger or smaller.
Refraction:Happens when light changes direction as it passes from one medium (or material) into another.
Convex and concave lenses: are the two main types of lenses.(positive lenses) bend the light inwards.
Heat transfer: When many particles come together, the hotter,faster-moving particles transmit energy two the cooler, slower moving-particles.When all the particles in a substance have the same temperature,it is called thermal equilibrium.
