Color Filters
When you look through a red plastic, everything looks red this is a color filter. Color filter – passes only some colors, the other colors are absorbed by the filter. A blue filter will let only the blue color to pass through it.

Refraction
Refraction is bending of light. It happens when light passes from one transparent substance to another with different densities. The change in speed of light causes it to change direction, and therefore “bend”.
Air is denser than vacuum, the speed of light in air is slower than in vacuum .
Water is denser than air, the speed of light in water is slower than in air.
Glass is dancer than water, the speed of light in glass is slower than in water .

Effects of refraction
-
Example= When you look at a fish in the water it looks nearer to the surface of the water than it really is.
-
Light Dispersion
When light passes through a prism it refracts to 7 different colors. This effect is called the dispersion of light.
-
Rainbow
The rain drops act like a prism and disperse the sunlight. It happens only when the sun is behind us and the rain is in front of us. The sunlight bends as it enters the rain drops. An observer sees red light coming from droplets of water higher in the sky, while droplets of water lower in the sky send violet light to the eye.

Reflection of Light
When light rays hit an object -> some of the light bounces back.
We can see the object when the reflected light enters our eyes.
