Applying what you've learnt
Group Two
A meteor slams into Earth, causing the loudest sound in history. Humans continue their lives as normal, but the sound has deafened all of us. We must now only communicate using virtual platforms. You are the senior leadership team of an accounting firm. How will you maintain employee wellbeing and communication given these constraints?
All correspondence in writing.
Teach everyone sign language. Have online workshops/classes for this.
Group One
A wizard has destroyed half of your work building, meaning half of the offices are destroyed and you have to make some staff redundant to lower operation cost and pay for the building. As the senior management of your magic insurance firm, how do you ensure employees don’t have job insecurity and breach their psychological contracts?
Clear and transparent, effective commmunication
We need to tell them about the operating costs and how this may lead to redundancy
We need to let them know we will support them with redundancy packages and referrals to like-minded companies
Timeline for restructuring
Removes the anxiety of "when" will things change
Ask if anyone is already looking for a new job
Ask if anyone is ready for a change
Let employees feel empowered about their decision
some people wait for a redundancy package rather than quitting
Loyalty
Maintain the loyalty of the psychological contract, unwritten set of expectations that we will be truthful and loyal to them as much as possible
Ensure appropriate resources for coping, make the job easy to do and maintain job satisfaction
hard to repair a broken psychological contract
this develops over time
Make sure support networks are in place
Education for coping with job insecurity
offer opportunities for upskilling before they leave
offer CV workshops
plan for resilience
Group Three
Your team have all been bitten and turned into zombies! They are not infectious but they are extremely lazy and can’t seem to get all their work done. As the senior zombie management, how will you ensure your team’s resilience and wellbeing is maintained, but all their work is completed?

I was self-employed and got a wage subsidy because I couldn’t Nanny. I more found a work-life balance issue with uni, I found I had no excuse for not getting good marks because nothing better to do. I found the work distracting so it was good, but also I was very tired and found I didn’t do much exercise

Wasn’t working during COVID
