Some may argue that it is relatively unimportant to dig into the parents of depressed children when there is still much to discover about the children themselves, however, parents of a depressed child can experience various mental, behavioral, parental, and physical effects, including helplessness, resentment, exhaustion, and even symptoms similar to their depressed child;
a better understanding of the effects on the parents by the parents themselves can help them recognize and utilize that information to be more mindful of their own behaviors, thus limiting the perpetuation of mental illness of both parents and children .
