Energy Trend By Sector
The natural gas demand has decreased from 156 Mtoe (2018) to 58 Mtoe (2019) due to the weather. Milder weather in 2019 was a key brake on the demand growth.
The demand of coal has decreased rapidly from 35 Mtoe in 2018 to -64 Mtoe. This is due to the expanding demand on renewable energy.
The oil demand grew by 0.8% in 2019 where China is the biggest consumer.
Biggest fall in energy demands in 70 years.
Renewable energy demand has increased.
Decrease in energy consumption has trigger the fall in CO2 emission.
Restriction on economic activities pushed global coal demand down by 8%.
Restriction on travel contributed to 5% fall in oil demand.
Renewable energy were the only one growing (wind and solar)
Industry
Buildings
Transport
Industry emerged as the leading sector for demand growth, with use of electricity in the sector overtaking use of coal.
The largest energy demand growth in industry came from China
milder weather in 2019 pushed annual energy demand growth below 1% for the first time since 2015
fell to around half of the average rate since 2010, as the slowdown in economic growth reduced freight and passenger activity.
Electricity Consumption by Sector
In 2018, world total electricity final consumption reached 22 315 TWh, 4.0% higher than 2017.

The four sectors that consume electricity: transportation, industry, residential and commercial.
Nuclear
Wind/ Solar
Measured in terms of generation, solar PV and wind lead the way in terms of growth, followed by natural gas, hydropower and biomass
Preliminary data indicate that 2019 will see a welcome resumption of growth with more than 110 GW of additions.
New coal-fired plants have slowed dramatically from almost 90 GW in 2015 to 20 GW in 2018, the size of the global coal-fired fleet continues to grow
Oil remains the largest source; essential for commercial transportation and chemicals
At the start of 2019, 60 GW (gross) of nuclear power projects were under construction in nearly 20 countries.
Largest low-carbon source of electricity, but by 2040 wind
gets close to equalling its share on the back of a rapidly expanding offshore wind market.
Coke
Coke remained as one of the main fuel source of electricity generation in the country, with a share of 50.6 percent of total fuel input (18,967 ktoe) together with coal.
Grows more than any other energy source, rising from 23 percent of global energy supply 2017 to 26 percent in 2040.

Most nuclear reactors use “enriched” uranium, meaning the fuel has a higher concentration of uranium-235 (U-235) isotopes, which are easier to split to produce energy.
Requires large amount of space, to avoid radiation contamination.
Plants must be located about 50 km radius from community.
Nuclear is one of the most consumeable energy in the world especially in power generation ( eg: Japan, US and many other countries) due to its large power output generated.
Around 10% of the world's electricity is generated by about 440 nuclear power reactors.
In 2019 nuclear plants supplied 2657 TWh of electricity, up from 2563 TWh in 2018..
