Are standardized tests the best way to academically assess students for college admissions or are there better alternatives?
While standardized tests are an effective tool to show progress and the strengths and weaknesses of children’s academics, they discriminate against lower class and minorities and do not fairly assess academic success, quality of character or potential success in higher education; thus, colleges should instead look towards grades and to develop portfolio systems to assess students for undergraduate admissions.
