FIRST LANGUAGE ACQUISITION
Is the study of how the children acquires their native language
Every human acquire the ability of recognize and speak language
Each child has a different way to acquire a language
Input
: Is when adults help to children in their process of language acquisition
This process is called ''Baby Talk'' and is introduced by someone that spend a lot of time with a child
Caregiver Speach
: Is used by the adults for communicate with young children
Is based on the abbreviation and repetition of words
ACQUISITION SCHEDULE
: Its connected by the maturation of the baby's brain.
Cooing
: Occurs in the first few months (Two to Five months). Produces vowels similar sounds (i) and (u)
Babbling
: From Six to Eight months. Combine different vowels and consonants as ''ba-ba-ba'' or ''ga-ga-ga''
9-10 months: Produces nasal sounds and combine new words (ma-ma-ma or ba-da-ba)
10-11 months: Vocalize to express emotions. More complex syllabe (ma-da-ga-ba)
One-Word Stage
: Uses everyday words as ''cookie, cup, etc''
Two Word Stage
: The vocabulary surpasses the 50 words. The interpretation of the words depends of the context.
Telegraphic Speech
: The children bean to produce multiple words. They start to use simple preposition (in, on).
ACQUISITION PROCESS
: The child's linguistic development tends to be primarily based on trying out different concepts.
Imitation
: The child repeat every words or phrases.
Correction
: The child don´t follow the correct structure of the sentence, so the adult correct them.
DEVELOPING MORPHOLOGY
: Many inflectional morphemes are used to denote the grammatical role of proper nouns.
Forming Questions
:
First Stage: Start to add WH form for any phrase.
Second Stage: Expressions that are more specific
Developing Semantics
: Children refer to a wide range of different objects with their small vocabulary.
