By 1986, the company operated six stores in Seattle and had only just begun to sell espresso coffee.
In 1987, the original owners sold the Starbucks chain to former manager Howard Schultz, who rebranded his Il Giornale coffee outlets as Starbucks and quickly began to expand the company.
The growth of Starbuck's
In the first three months alone of 2014, Starbuck's net income (profit) was 541 million dollars. In the first quarter of this year, 2015, they have made 984 million dollars. The reason for this high profit is because of their huge growth of stores being opened internationally.
In 1998, through the acquisition of the British chain Seattle Coffee Company that owned 60 coffee shops in the United Kingdom, the merger was carried out, changing the name to Starbucks, the company expanded its activities internationally.
In September 2002 they opened their first branch in Mexico. By March 2016, it already had 600 stores in the country.
In early 2004 the first Starbucks store in France opened on the Opera square in Paris. In 2011 there were 59 stores in France
As of February 2007, Starbucks had 7,521 locations around the world: 6,010 of them in the United States and 1,511 in other countries.
