PerazaLeah- Lymp Immune System
Major functions of the Lymphatic & Immune systems
A major function of the lymphatic system is to remove excess body fluids from the body.
The lymphatic system consist of lymphatic vessels almost like veins and capillaries.
Absorbing fatty acids and subsequent transport of fat, chyle, to the circulatory system is a function of the lymphatic system.
Major function of the immune system is too disease-causing germs (pathogens) and to remove them from the body.
The immune system also protects the body from foreign organisms.
The immune system can fight off bacteria, viruses, fungi and other parasites.
Anatomy of the lymphatic system
The Lymphatic consists of lymph vessels, ducks, nodes, and other tissues.
The lymph system consists of a fluid, and vessels that transport the lymph, and organ that contain lymphoid tissue.
Innate(natural)immune defenses and Adaptive(acquired)immune defenses
The innate immune response consist of physical, chemical and cellular defenses against pathogens.
the innate immune consists of components of physical barriers ,phagocytic cell, phagocytes, monocytes, neutrophils and epithelial cells.
The second line of defense is against non-self pathogens which are known as adaptive immune response.
Acquired immunity or adaptive immunity can also be referred to as a specific immunity and is only found in vertebrae's.
adaptive immunity occurs after exposure with aintigenfrom a pathogen or vaccination.
This activates when the innate immune response is unable to control the infection.
Antigens and antibodies
immunoglobulin known as antigens, are proteins manufactured by the body to help fight against foreign substances like antigens.
immunoglobulins bind to specific antigens like bacteria or viruses.
Antigens stimulate the immune system to produce antibdodies.
Cells involved in the immune system
Lymphocytes are cells of the immune system.
T cells, B cells and NK cells, neutrophils, and monocytes or macrophages .
Cytokines are the major protein of the immune system.
Disorders associated with the Immune system
Type 1 diabetes is a major disorder in the immune system that attacks the pancreas that makes insulin.
Lupus attacks the body tissue like the kidney and the lungs.
immunodeffiency disorder is ld by anything that weakens your immune system.
