It is important to pre plan when it comes to group therapy, one strategy counselors use is interview application. This allows the students to fill this out prior to group therapy in order to assist in their engagement with each other. (Sink, et al, 2012). Some interview questions include name and information, thoughts about topic or topics, questions about keeping things private regarding confidentiality, and so on. (Sink, et al, 2012). Group counseling is a vital service provided to students included in the school counseling program.( ASCA, 2020). This is a part of the school counselor's duty and role, planning is an important part of group therapy, and group sessions are to be planned, group focused, and evidence based. (ASCA, 2020). According to the ASCA Ethical Standards it is the school counselors duty to provide students with a comprehensive school counseling program that ensures emotional development, academic development, and career development. (ASCA, 2016). Some of the Ethical Standards under A 7 Group Work for the Ethical Standards (ASCA) are that the counselor informs parents of student participating in group therapy, to screen students, use data to track and measure, facilitate groups using the framework of either evidence or research based practices.
