Ms. Gonzalez expresses serious concerns about any teacher who does not want to hear about equity and social justice. A teacher with his POV should not be teaching. They would step aside and let those who will teach about equity and social justice the room to do so.
Major change of focus from multicultural education to social justice given the George Floyd injustice.
Dr. Eakins stated that he had been teaching social equity, but he hadn't known what to call it until recently.
Interesting, less expensive for LA to send students to his private school than it was for the public system.
Originally, Dr. Eakins initially reached out about teaching at predominately white schools needing to be taught culturally responsive teaching and multicultural education.

Utilizing the police as a weapon against a black man (Christian Cooper) birdwatching minding his own business while a lady (if you can call her that) walking her dog off-lead, says she's going to call the police and he'll them that a black man is threatening her and her dog. CNN news story.

Pictures in classrooms and texts not being reflective of varied cultures is a form of social injustice.
