- - - - Thomas Edison was very much a businessman and an inventor, Edison had many companies meanwhile Lewis Lattimer worked with a famous inventor Hiram Maxim at the U.S. Electric lighting company. One of Thomas Edison's main companies was the National Phonograph company. The National Phonograph company was the main holder for other various manufacturing companies by inventor and entrepreneur Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison decided to recreate the lightbulb because of the filament of Swan's design. A thin filament with high electrical resistance would make the lamp more practical because it would allow a smaller current to glow allowing him to create the "Edison Illuminating Company".
        
        Thomas Edison's electrical company from his invention of the light bulb "Edison Illuminating Company" was purchased by Consolidated Gas in 1901. Edison's Illuminating company does not have a net worth to be stated but Edison's total net worth was roughly 170 million. In 1936, when electrical sales were outpricing gas sales the company changed its name to "Consolidated Edison". The net worth for the company in week 53 of 2020 was $23.924 billion.

        Thomas Edison was considered a captain of this industry because he was the main inventor of the light bulb. We might not have many of the electrical advancements we have today without Edison. Many people believe that Edison's most spectacular invention was the lightbulb.
        
        Thomas Edison was considered a captain of Industry because Edison would invent things that everyone could use. Edison also improved the standard of living by inventing things like the lightbulb and motion picture film. Edison always treated people that he worked with well.
        
        Not many people considered Edison a Robber Barron.Edison always planned that he would never invented a product if he did not believe that there was a market for it. Edison had people say that he is very self-centered but still very persistent. But others have described him as serious-minded, hardworking, and very demanding knowing what he wants.
        
        Many people say that the modern day Thomas Edison is Elon Musk known as the owner of Tesla. Musk and Edison have both accomplished so much and are very much like business men. Musk playing big leadership roles in Tesla, Paypal, the Hyperloop, SolarCity, SpaceX, and the Boring Company. One thing that Edison and Musk have in common is there works with electrical, Musk having his electrical cars and Edison the light bulb being some of the biggest inventions of their centuries. Edison's invention is even used in the modern day Tesla today.
      - More about Lewis Lattimer. Lewis was born in Chelsea, Mass. Lewis's father was a runaway slave that made a famous court case. When the Civil War ended Lewis was enlisted in the Navy, but returned to Boston and taught himself mechanical drawing while working at a law firm. Lewis did not get a lot of credit for the lightbulb unfortunately.
