Genetics
genes-is a sequence of nucleotides in DNA and are the basic unit of heredity.
chromosome- long DNA molecule with genetic material of an organism
allele-form of a given gene trait
sex cells- reproductive cells
gamete- reproduction cells
diploid- cell that contains two copies of each chromosomes
haploid-cell that contains a single set of chromosomes
sexual reproduction- combination of reproductive cells from two individuals
genetic diversity- variation of genetic information
phenotype- the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.
genotype- the genetic constitution of an individual organism.
incomplete dominance- where both of the traits mix
codominance- both genes are shown
homozygous- having two identical alleles
recessive- quality found in the relationship between two versions of a gene
heterozygous- having two different alleles of a particular gene
Punnett square- square diagram that is used to predict the genotypes of a particular cross or breeding experiment
meiosis-a type of cell division that results in four daughter cells
variation- the difference in DNA among individuals or the differences between populations.
heredity-the passing on of physical or mental characteristics genetically
GMO- genetically modified organism
mutation- alter of the nucleotides
