Women in the public space
Women still judged by the way they dress.
More and more women in journalism, politics, but still not equal.
Problem of women being "stalked" (followed by men) but new laws.
Today's fights
more women to run a business , to be a CEO
more equal at home (housework)
more women present in politics
more present in sport/ changing the vision of women in sport.
equal pay (89 cents for one dollar for a man)
When women are pregnant, it's more difficult to keep her job.
Women succeed better at university but still there are fewer women with higher jobs.
The fights we won
In 1965, women in the US was allowed to work without her husband's consent.
In 1840, Women obtained the right to property. .
In 1920 in the USA, got the right to vote/WERE ALLOWED to vote. (France= 1945, England= 1928)
They obtained the right to "freedom of movement"
In 1972, equality between men/women French army.
In England, they got the right to abort in 1967 in England/1974 in France.
Right to divorce, independent from their husband, right to open a bank account, to take the pill....
Women in the private space
Women still take care of their children more than men/sometimes they sacrifice their jobs (now there are new laws for parental leave)
the vision of women hasn't changed so much: she's still an "housewife" and a "mother"
equal at home: housework: women still do more at home.
Too many women are beaten by their husbands or boyfriends/ not safe at home.
