Shield volcanoes
Eruptions are gentle.
The quick-flowing lava cools to form a gently flowing volcanoes
Shield volcanoes are usually found at constructive plate boundaries where the mantle as the plates pull apart.
Composite Volcanoes
The partially melted magma rises to the surface
The magma is viscous and contains trapped sea water and hot gasses
Takes place at the subduction in destructive plate boundaries
Steam and dangerous gasses erupt violently from the resulting volcanoes
The viscous lava cools quickly
Drought in the uk
Consequences
Environment damaged by wild fires and water extraction from rivers
Hosepipe ban= more difficult to clean cars and water gardens
No water for crops or livestock
Responses
Hosepipe ban- however no watering for the gardens.
Use less water in the home, however not everyone followed
Water extracted from river, However bad for environment
Causes
Warmer temperature causing high evaporation
Dry soil- hard for water to get in
Low rain due to dry winds
Typhoon Hayan
Consequences
Secondary
Roads blocked by trees
453 flights cancelled
No shelter
Primary
Storm surge destroyed 90% of Tacloban city
Heavy rainfall causes flash floods
Causes
Depth over 60m
Passed over little land so high energy
Sea temp over 26.5 c
