TOPIC 10: ADVOCACY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
DEFINITION
means speaking .acting, writing with minimal conflict of interest on behalf of the sincerely perceived interest of a disadvantaged person or group to promote
being on their side and no-one else
being concerned with their fundamental needs
remaining royal and accountable to them in a way which is costly to advocateor to advocacy group
advocacy is an art of persuasion or art of convincing others
advocacy is taken for the satisfaction of seeing justice done because it concern the individual engaged in it

Teachers's role
take the time to really listen to their students, and shows interest in assisting that students needs and goals
being a good listener entails learning about the students interest, talents, wants and needs
as an advocate, it is the teacher's job to gain support for his/her students
ways to empower students
use different teaching strategies to provide students with a choice
the more choices you offer students, the more empowered theu will be to take ownership in their learning
empowered learning. empowered learners have acquired a more generic meaning in their studies
