Matrix
Matrix structure is often used when cross-functional teams are created to run a project. Team members may come from different disciplines. The team will disband when the project is complete.

Hierarchical
Many layers of management within the business, long chain of command from the top to the bottom. Each manager has a narrow span of control. Info and designs go through each level, this structure is useful where there has to be tight control over operations such as military and hospitals where mistakes could lead to loss of life.
Advantages

There are clearly defined roles, clearly defined procedures for carrying out those roles

Inability to change quickly also makes the business vulnerable to changes in the market in which it operates
Centralised
Centralised organisations are where most decisions are taken by senior managers and then passed down the organisational hierarchy. This structure relies on having strong and competent managers.

Decentralised
This structure gives responsibility and design making to the middle and lower managers. Allowing for some designs to be taken locally, delegating authority. Head office is sent more as providing a supporting role for the organisation.
Advantages

allows organisation to eb more responsive to changes in the market or environment in which it operates

Flat
Fewer levels of management, short chain of command. Managers tend to have a wider span of control . Managers have a wider span of control-they are directly responsible for more employees.
Disadvantages

The removal of management or supervision levels means that there is less control throughout the organisation

Entrepenurial
Only one or two main design makers, this structure is usually used in small businesses but also in newspaper editing and money markets. This business relies wholly on the expertise of the decision maker.

If decision maker is unavailable, then the decisions can't be made
