Assimilation
- There are two sounds and one of them changes to make it easier to pronounce the next sound.
- Can happen within a word or between words.

- /d/ + /j/ + /dʒ/ or /dʒj/, ex: Did you go? /didʒe/ or /didʒje/
- /t/ + /j/ = /ʧ/ , Ex: Can't you do it? /kɑ:nʧə/
- /s/ + /j/= /ʃ/ Ex: Is this yours? /ði:ʃjɔ:z/
- /z/ + /j/ = /ʒ/. Ex: Please use this /pli:ʒu:z/

Examples : 1. c + c , need two = nɪtu: 2. c + v. need it = nɪdɪt
Elision

- Easier to pronounce
- used in casual/ informal speech
- sound smoother & more natural
t & d
When t or d comes between two consonants at the end of a syllable it gets elided (The /t/ and /d/ don't get pronounced)
c - t - c = c - c, Example: Scripts (don't pronounce /t/)
