Factors that affect China's Water Resources - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Heavy rainfall and typhoons
        
        Heavy rainfall and typhoons cause lare amounts of rainwater to reach river channels in a short period of time, leading to severe flooding.
      - Relief
        
        When the flow of water in rivers becomes slow, sands and soil tend to be deposited on the river bed, causing the river bed to become shallow, which decreases the holding capacity of the river. This is called silting
    - - Poor farming practices
        
        Farmers graze a large amount of livestock and grow crops on slopes. The livestock eats grass that is protecting the soil. This is called overgrazing. Crops grown on slopes will cause the soil to be poor. This is called overcultivation. Both cause soil erosion, which makes silting more serious.
      - Deforestation
        
        Trees are cutr on a large scale in China. Tree roots help infiltration of water, and helps to stop soil erosion
      - Reclaiming lakes for different uses
        
        Lakes in China have been used for fishi ponds, or reclaimed for farming and settlement, which reduces the sizes of lakes.
      - Urban development
        
        Floors of urban areas are covered with concrete. When rain falls, it cannot infiltrate the underground. Sewer and drains in urban areas help divert rainwater quickly, but water often reaches the river channels faster.
