Objectivity
The degree to which the instrument can be biased.
Bigotry, racism, sexism, or male chauvinism may affect the way in which the research is addressed.
Questionnaire
The most commonly used data collection method.
Compound of questions in regard to one or more variables.
Data collection
A detailed plan of the procedures that will lead us to gather data with a specific purpose.
Such plan has the following elements:
Variables.
Measurable concepts or attributes.
Operational definitions.
The way we operationalize the variables is crucial to determine the method to measure them.
The sample.
The specific group of people that we will use for our research.
Reliability
Degree to which the instrument (data collection method) produces consistent and coherent results.
Validity
Degree to which an instrument really measures the variable in question.
Closed questions
Those that contain predetermined answers.
Example
If you had a choice, would you like to be paid according to your productivity at work?
Definitely yes
Probably
I am not sure
Probably not
Definitely not
