        Changes in people or places, as well as shifts in tone or structure, can signal central ideas in a poem.
      - REPETITION
        
        Poets use words sparingly, so if a word, image, or idea is repeated, it’s for an important purpose.
      - TITLE
        
        Some poems have no title or a title that merely tells the subject. But for many poems, the title (and subtitles, such as this poem has) contributes to the overall meaning of the poem.
    - - Most often, poets do not state the theme, or message, of a work. Instead, making inferences that lead to the theme is part of the experience of reading the poem. This reader involvement adds impact in a way that merely stating a message could never accomplish.
