Heat Transfer
-
Radiation
is the emission and propagation of energy in the form of waves, rays or particles.
-
-
-
includes emanation of any portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, plus it includes the release of particles.
-
The Sun emits radiation in the form of light, heat, and particles.
Convection
describes processes affecting the atmosphere, waters, and solid earth.
Warm air is less dense, and hence, it expands, creating a low-pressure area over the land near the coast. Meanwhile, there is relatively high pressure over the sea. The difference in air pressure causes the air to flow from sea to land.
Air-conditioners are used constantly. The warm air, being less dense, rises and is drawn in by the air-conditioner. As a result, a convection current is set up and the room is cooled.
