Teacher Principles
Teacher Leader
A leader within the school that leads their peers and students throughout the school day. The leader leads through actions and words and directs the students to be successful in their academic studies.
Teachers are leaders directly in their classroom, grade level team and indirectly their school and community. The leadership label for us that goes beyond the walls of the schools comes from our own actions. Our students watch how we act verses how we talk. We need to act the way we talk to the students.
My principle of leadership involves teaching the students academically, socially and emotionally while holding myself to an unbiased teaching standard. I believe we must do all we can to not only teach students but to keep them safe.

Be honest to students and their progress, as well as the progress that I am making in the classroom.
Teaching is a profession where we have to be honest in everything we say and do. We have to be honest to students about what they are making progress in and areas they need more work in. Teachers need to be honest in these areas as well and we need to be honest with our administration and parents so that we can grow as educators and provide the best education to our students.

Leaders engage with colleagues on a personal level and listen to concerns. They are transparent when making decisions and effective communicators when changes or decisions are made that will affect more than one person.
Leaders stay true to decisions that have been made after the collective whole as discussed the issue. If leaders constantly change their mind to please certain individuals, while ignoring the majority of the group, trust issues can occur. When leaders make a decision and stick to it, consistency and trust is developed.
