What makes a good explanation in natural science?

  • A good explanation must contain correspondence theory
  • A theory that corresponds and explains the majority of society
  • Can be reproduced and applicable in other variables
  • Can be a further explanation of existing knowledge
  • The phrase "explanations have to be true" suggests a direct correlation with no exception
  • Explanations can be partially true
  • Corresponds with parts of reality but does not explain the entire truth
  • Selective truth and echo chamber limits the explanation
  • Bad explanation is subjective to the perspective of the audience
  • People can have lack of knowledge and understanding in order to comprehend the explanation
  • Certain political / social beliefs that define the explanation as bad, Although in reality the explanation is true
  • Explanations that are not verified, or can not be reproduced with results

Combination of truths

  • Sometimes a theory in natural science can not be explained by one explanation
  • There might be two or more ways to depict the truth
  • Determining which explanation is able to correspond with more of reality
  • Sometimes the combination of two or more explanation can be used in order to depict the truth
  • A single explanation to depict the truth isn't a good explanation as a combination of two or more would resemble a better truth
  • Good explanation results in better understanding of text, hence must be a true explanation
  • Good explanation means the audience agrees with explanation perspective, which corresponds to reality
  • Popular opinion / perspective in society = corresponds to reality
  • If people understand the explanation (good explanation), most likely it is true
  • Explanations can be good in terms of a popular perspective in society
  • Follows society patterns or describes the popular opinion
  • Builds great model as an explanation in order for more people to understand = good explanation
  • However the explanation itself can be false or outdated. Although it helps people understand it does not depict reality and the truth.

Explanation itself does not correspond fully to reality.
