Electrical energy
Is the most common form of energy because it is easy to obtain,it can be transported over long distances and it can easilybbe transformed into many other forms of energy
Conductors and Insulators.
Insulators
There are materials that do not let electric current flow through them.
Conductors
There are materials that let electric current flow through them.
Electricity
is a form of energythat lets negatively charged particles (electrons) move from one atom to another.
Electric current
is the flow of electronsfrom one atom to anotherinsidea conductive material.
Electric circuits
Is a series of interconnected components that an electric current flows throug to produce an effect
Conductors
Components that transport the electricalenergy
Load devices
Components that recive the electrical energy
Power sources
Components that suply the necessary electrical energy
Control devices
Control devices
Devices that regulate the circuit
Components of a circuit.
Power Sources
Cell
Supplies the electrical energy to the rest of the circuit. They have a positive terminal and a negative terminal.
Battery
A grouped set of cells.
Load devices
Lamp
Converts elctrical energy to light energy.
Resistor
A load device that opposes the flow of the elctric current. Converts electrical energy to heat energy.
Motor
Converts electrical energy to kinetic energy.
Buzzer
Converst electrical energy to sound energy.
Conductors
Wire
The component that the electric current flows through.
Control devices
One way switch
Switches opens or close the circuit when they are pressed.
Push switch
Switches open and close the circuit but only while the button is pushed.
Two-way switch
It have two positions. When we press them they change from one position to another.
circuits
Closed circuits
When the energy of the power source reaches the load devices
Short circuits
Occurs when the electric current is transported by the wires without passing through a load device
Open circuits
When the energy of the power source cannot reach the load devices
Types of circuits
Series circuits
In these circuits all the components are conected one after the other.
Parallel circuits
In these circuits the load devices are conected on different branches of the wire.
Series-parallel combination circuits.
These circuits contain devices connected in series and in parallel.
Energy and the enviroment
Of the many activities we do every day the mayority use electricity.
Enviromental impact of energy production and trasmition.
Electrical energy is generated industrially in power stations, which convert a form of energy to electrical energy.
Responsible use of electrical energy
When we save energy, we save money too but more importantly we save natural resources and help to protect the enviroment.
Converting electrical energy
Motion
We can also convert electricity to motion using a motor
Heat
When electrons move through a conductor or load device, they create friction with the material as they pass through, which produces heat.
Sound
We can use electrical energy to transmit sounds through microphones and we can produce sound effects through sirens, buzzers and bells
Light
We can convert electricity to light through load devices such as incandescent lamps, fluorescent tubes and electronic or low-energy lamps
