ANCIENT INDIA
History:
1500 BC, warriors named "Aryans" appeared in India. Their skills allowed them to conquer the subcontinent. They spoke Sanskrit. They think that they migrated from India to Central Asia.
Songs and stories:
They wrote stories and songs about their gods, it was named Vedas. They have a collection named Rig Veda. The influence of these stories is why he period of Indian history lasting from about 1500BC to 322BC is known as the Vedic Age.
Caste system creation
1000 BC, they discovered iron ore in the "Ganges River Valley". They used it to boil strong plows to grow crops. They created weapons to control Dravidian people, that's how they created the rigid social structure named the caste system.
1) Brahmin; Priests, teachers, and judges, they understood dharma, a spiritual law. They lived in temples
2) Kshatriya; Warriors, they made decisions and ran the government, but their decisions could be overruled by the Brahmin.
3) Vaishya; Farmers and merchants, the unskilled workers were of the "Sugars Caste," they worked in farms.
4) Foreigners, lawbreakers, were called "untouchables," their job was to kill and despose dead cattle, contact with human emissions. They ate meat so they were NOT accepted into society. They couldn't enter the temples.

British
The British controlled part or all of the Indian subcontinent from 1612 to 1947. The British thought that caste members believed they would have to live out their lives in a particular caste in order to be reborn into a higher caste.
Now
Discrimination against the Dalit has been forbidden by the Indian Constitution since 1950 but many of India’s 160 million Dalit continue to live in poverty. Indian people elected a Dalit to the presidency.
