What makes your research a contribution?, When do we accept knowledge?,…
-
-
-
Sometimes if your research is really out of the ordinary or if it combines multiple disciplines it is tough to get the community to accept it.
-
The peers who will evaluate your new knowledge are normally other expert researchers in the field. Do you know who they are?
If you are going to a PhD and want to know what is expected in the field, do not go and look in your own school's library.
Rather, go to the university where the examiner is and try to look at his/her recent MSc or PhDs graduates. Their work will set the context of what your work could look like.
Beware of Knowledge Consumers!
Folks who want to use your new knowledge but not really able to assess its correctness immediately. They are not your peers, only person who are engaged in the process of making knowledge does. They will apply the values and expectations of the research community.
If this acceptance by the community of researchers is so important, then it should not be left until the end to discover what they think.
