How shall we start learning about sales? This lead generation and cold calling and cold emailing is almost similar to as throwing arrow with a blind target? How do we know if the person I am reaching out to is in need of what we are selling for example, he wants to build a website, how we know?

Does Amazon knows everything about the Guest users visiting it's website? What they gonna do? or Amazon just provides the Platform to the user and allow it to take minimal action, so he can encourage the user to do Transaction. Example - Amazon allows Guest User to add the product in the Cart and then presents the SignUp or Login Page to note down the details.
Does Best Buy or Walmart knows whoever random person is visiting their Stores what the Customer gonna buy once they enter? or They intentionally let people play around with the items they offer and once the Person shows interest or is spending more time with that product - a Sales Rep jumps in ?
