Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are used to monitor student learning and provide ongoing feedback that can be used by the teacher to improve teaching in order for students to improve learning.

Interim/benchmark
Definition: Interim/benchmark is a test administered at different intervals during the school year to check students grasp of content and guide future intruction

Definition: a summative assessment is usually given at the end of instruction to assess mastery of learning objectives.
unit exams: The students take an exam at the end of a unit to see if they have mastered what they have learned.
Standardized tests: demonstrates schools accountability making sure the students have mastered the learning objectives for the year.
Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are pretests and serve as a barometer for how much the student knows about a topic.
unit pretest: Students complete a pretest before the unit in order for the teacher and students to see what they know.

Definition: an assessment where students must perform a task instead of completing a written assignment.
Presentations: Students will create a presentation over the material they have learned or something to teach and present it to the class
