ELECTRICAL ENERGY :electric_plug:
Electricity is a form of energythat lets negatively charged particles that move from one atom to another
Electric current is the flow of electronsfrom one atomto another inside a conductive material
CONVERTING ELECTRICAL ENERGY :flashlight:
Electrical energy can be converted to other tipes of energy
HEAT
When electrons move througha conductor or load device, they create a friction with the material as they pass through, which produces heat. This effect is known as the Joule effect
MOTION
We can conver electricity to motion using a motor. The effect obtained when we make an electric current flow through a motor is that its shaft turns in a rotary motion. This type of energy is used in washing machines and drills
LIGHT
We can convert electricity to light through load devices such as incandescent lamps, fluorescent tubes and electronic or low-energy lamps.
SOUND
We can use electrical energy to transmit sounds through microphones and we can produce sound effects through sirens, buzzers and bells. The sound that comes out of a loudspeaker is produced by vibrations in a membrane that are caused by electrical energy
ENERGY AND THE ENVIROMENT :evergreen_tree:
ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT
Electrical energy is generate industrialy in power stations. Many power stations have an impact on our enviroment baceuse they pollute the atmosphere, add to the greenhouse effect, pollute water... Power lines also have enviromental impact. The use of renewable energy is beguin promoted as a green altrenative to conventional power stations
RESPONSIBLE USE OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY
When we save energy, we save money too but more importantly, we save natural resources and help to protect the enviroment.
TIPS ON RESPONSIBLE ENERGY USE
Replace old electrical applicates with more efficent ones
Use certain domestic applicates only when their are full
low energy bulbs
Always sitch offf electronic equipment
CIRCUITS :zap:
Closed circuits
The enrgy can flow
Short circuits
The electricity only flow throught the wire without passing through a load device
Open circuits
The energy can´t flow
Components of a circuit
Load devices
motor
Converts electrical energy to kinetic energy
Buzzer
converts electrical energy to sound energy
Lamp
Coverts electrical energy to light energy
Resistor
A load devices that opposesthe flow of the electric current.
Conductors
Wire
The component that the electric current flows through
Power sources
Cell
Supplies electrical energy tothe restof the circuit
Battery
A grouped set of cells
Control devices
one-way switch
Open and close the circuit when they are pressed
Two-way switch
have two positions
Push switch
They open and close the circuit but only while the botton is pushed
TIPES OF CIRCUITS :bulb:
Paralel circuits
The current does not flow equally through all the load devices. It is shared by all the possible paths.
Series-paralel combination circuits
These circuit contain devices coneccted in series and in paralel. The circuit have properties of both tipes of circuit.
Series circuits
The same current flows through all the devices
STATIC ELECTRCITY :lightning:
Conductors
Are materials that let electric currentflow through them. (gold, silver, copper, aluminium)
Insulators
Are materials that do not let electricity current flow through them. (paper, plastic, wood..)
COMPONENTS :sparkler:
An electric circuit is a series of interconnectedcomponentsthat an electic current flows through to produce an effect
Conductors
Are components that transport the electrical energy that flows through these components. The components are the wires
Load devices
Are components that receive the electricl energyfrom the power sources and convert it to othertypes of useful energy: Motors, lamps, buzzers and resistors
Power sources
Are components that supply the necessary electrical energy to the rest of the cicuit in order to move the elecrons. In a circuit are cells and batteries.
Control devices
they regulate the circuit, the main types of control devices are one-way switches, push switches and two-way switches
