**Pre- Assessment
Students are given a gamified pre-quiz to assess their knowledge of how the different categories of comparative adjectives are formed in English. Based on the results of the pre-quiz, students are then divided into three different groups and given different tasks to complete.
Group 3: The five students who appear to have limited knowledge of the topic of which three are struggling with language and are at different reading levels, and two students who have little to no comprehension of the topic and need to be tested for special needs.
Direct Instruction: Students are taught the grammar rules deductively in small groups. Visuals and other realia are used to reinforce meaning.
Draw what you understand.Students draw pictures in their notebook to visually represent the rules and use them to complete a scaffolded worksheet on comparative adjectives.
Adjust the production activity so that is within the student's zone of proximal development. Include pictures and prompts and allow students to refer back to the grammar rules as they produce.
