he was born in south africa in 1918 into madaba in a village of mvezo
in 1944 he joined the African nation congress (ANC)
in 1960 the governament banned the ANC and he critisied it
a protest that wanted black people to have the same rights as white people
he studied law at university and he became a lawyer
he helping poor black people with their legal problems.
he died in 2013 aged 95
life in prison:
he critised the governament and organised a protests.
he was arrested for a long time
In 1964 he was sent to prison on robben island
conditions in prison was very hard
