Electricity and direct current circuits
Electrical energy
Atom
Neutrons
Electrons
Protons
Electric current is the flow of electrons from one atom to another inside a conductive material.
Conductors
Material that let electric current flow through them are called conductors.
Insulators
Insulting materials are those that are not conductive of electricity, that is, they cannot carry electricity together with them, such as diamond, wood, etc
Electric circuits
-Conductors:Components that transport the electrical energy from the power sources to the load devices; in other words, the elctric current flows through these components.
-Power souerces: Components that supply the necesary electrical energy to the rest of the circuitin order to move the electrons .
-Control devices : Devices that regulate the circuit; in other words, they allow or prevent the flow of electric current through the circuit.
-Load devices: Components that recives the electrical energy from the power sources and convert it to other types of useful energy.
Components And Circuits
Power Souces
Cell
Supplies electrical energy to the rest of the circuit. Cells have a positive terminal and a negative terminal; this lets them supply electric current to the circuit when they are connected
Battery
A grouped set of cells
Conductors
-Wire: The component that the electric current flows through.
Load Devices
Lamp
Converts electrical energy to light energy.
Motor
Converts electrical energy to kinetic energy.
Buzzer
Converts electrical energy to sound energy
Resistor
A load device that opposes the flow of the electric current. Converts electrical energy to heat energy.
Control Devices
-Push switch
: Push switches open and clos the circuit but only while the button is pushed. These devices can either be normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC), depending on what they do before they are pressed. NO switches can also be called push-to-make switches and NC switches can be called push-to-breack switches.
-
Two-Way switch:
Two-way switches have two positions. When we press them, they change from one position to other.
-One-way switch:
One-way switches open or close the cicuit whenthey are pressed. One position opens the circuit and stops the electric current from flowing throw it; the other position closes the circuit and lets the electric current pass.
Types of circuits
Series Circuits
In thise circuits , all the componetns are connected one after the other .
Parallel circuits
In these circuits, the load devices are coonnected on diferent branches of the wire.
Series-parallel combination circuits
These circuits contain devices connected in series and in parallel.
Open And Close Circuits
Closed Circuit:
In on the lamp is its, the electric current flow and reaches the lamp to the ligh it
Open Circuits:
In off the lamp is not litm the electrical does not flow
