Steps of Emergency Care - Coggle Diagram
Steps of Emergency Care
Step 1: Triage
It is the process of prioritizing patients based on the urgency of someone's condition
Different levels of priority
Emergent
Highest priority patient, care needed immediately
Urgent
Care needed quickly but can be delayed temporarily
Semi-urgent
Care is needed, but can wait if other higher priority patients are present
Non-urgent
Lowest priority, minor conditions
Step 2: Physical exams and diagnostic testing
Patients have a physical examination, including measurement of vital signs
To create a treatment plan, diagnostic testing may need to be completed
Step 3: Medical treatment and reevaluation
A decision will be made about whether to admit them to the hospital or not
The patient's condition may be reevaluated
Step 4: Admission to hospital or discharged to home
The patient may be allowed into the hospital to be treated
The patient may also be dismissed back to their home for the time being
