Appointed them as Israel's leaders

2nd: Abijah
Both served at Beersheba
Don't follow Samuel's ways.
Sons were really bad sinners
Dishonest
Accepted bribes
Want to be kings like other nations' kings
Elders of Israel asking for new king
Why?
Samuel getting too old
Sons don't follow samuel's ways
Wants a new king who can lead to be appointed
Solution
Samuel prayed
God responded saying that it wasn't Samuel that they reject, it was God that they reject as their king.
There was direct rejection of God as their king.
Israel leader
King should be the one who would serve God's people under lordship of God and his word.
Not to be a king like all other nation
