session - a formal meeting or series of meetings of a court, a parliament, etc.; a period of time when such meetings are held (a plenary session of the European Parliament)

spokesman (person, woman) - a person who speaks for a group or an organization (a spokesman for the government)
ambassador - an official who lives in a foreign country as the senior representative there of his or her own country (the British Ambassador to Italy/in Rome)
deputy - a person who is the next most important person below a business manager, a head of a school, a political leader, etc. and who does the person’s job when he or she is away
executive - the part of a government responsible for putting laws into effect (Parliament's ability to control the executive)

to govern - to legally control a country or its people and be responsible for introducing new laws, organizing public services, etc.
to negotiate - to try to reach an agreement by formal discussion (to try to reach an agreement by formal discussion)
pass - to accept a proposal, law, etc. by voting; to be accepted in this way (to pass a bill/law/resolution)
to run - to be a candidate in an election for a political position, especially in the US (Hilary Clinton ran for president in 2016)

to rule - to control and have authority over a country, a group of people, etc. (At that time, King John ruled England)

to nominate - to formally suggest that somebody/something should be chosen for an important role, prize, position, etc. (She has been nominated for the presidency)

budget - an official statement by the government of a country’s income from taxes, etc. and how it will be spent
