Reconstituted Family: The arrangement where two people with children form previous relationships marry.

Summary
Family diversity is much more common now than it was before because the society has changed to be more accepting of other arrangements. Social Norms and Values have changed so that other familiy types are seen as normal.
Not all family types are equally common but family types that were unaccepted before are now increasing however the nuclear family is the most common family type.
There are many statements made such as opposite sex couples are more likely to be married than same sex couples, this is true because the civil partnership law allowing same sex couples is very new so many chose not to follow it.
Changes in norms and values are a big reason for the increase in family diversity. For example the norms around cohabitation, marriage and divorce have changed.
Changing ideas on other factors also contribute to the growing number of family types, such as the increase in securalisation which is the decline in religion, changes for women in society have also contributed as well as the economic factors.
