What is it?

The underdevelopment or absence of the chest muscle in one side of the body and the webbing of the fingers of the hand on the same side.

Severity differs from person to person, so it is not often reported or diagnosed.
Current estimates for incidence are 1:10,000-100,000 births

Common characteristics:

The end of the main chest muscle, where it attaches to the breastbone, is usually missing.
The nipple and areola is underdeveloped or missing. And in females, this may extend to the breast and underlying tissue
Abnormally short, webbed fingers

Often, the armpit hair is missing

Causes:
-
Evidence supports the idea that something occurs during the 6th week of gestation and most likely involves the vascular system.
