Pre-Assessment For Differentiation Flower - Coggle Diagram

- - - - At the beginning of this activity the teacher will enunciate, spell and identify each part of the plant.
        
        The teacher will go through each word one-on-one with each student and have the student repeat the word and spelling
        
        Next, students will review key vocabulary with flashcards that are premade. Students will practice spelling, enunciating, and saying its definition. Plant parts will be at this station.
        As one student holds the flashcard, another student will touch each part and take turns spelling, enunciating, and saying its definition in the form of a song (to add on to their knowledge) ending their song by naming one part that’s edible and an example. The two students who need to be tested will work with the teacher to form their song (as the backup singer) as needed. These students will need to verbally demonstrate their knowledge of these terms with the teacher, before moving on to the next activity
        
        Following the activity, the student will write and/or illustrate on a posterboard each word and share with the teacher and those at the Handy Station
        
        The two students who need to be tested will be referred to the Student Learning Service to be tested
- - - - These learners will report to the Explorers station where they'll watch a video Parts of a Plants
        
        Next the student will complete an exit-activity-ticket before moving to the next activity.
        
        Following, the explorers will review Plant Life Cycle for Kids. The explorers will complete a graphic organizer detailing the step-by-step process.

        Afterwards, the Explorers will apply what they’ve learned by planting their own Lima bean.
        
        Lastly, they’ll write a learning reflection, that includes what they (KWL) they already knew, what they learned, and what they would like to learn about plants. At the end of the reflection the students will share what they know about plant food. How will their lima bean survive?
- - - - The students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly will complete a pre-quiz to assess the students knowledge before introducing them to more information about plants. This pre-quiz includes vocabulary that was not introduced to other students, and a curveball-question that wasn’t introduced.
        
        Following the students will watch a short video discussing the characteristics and classification of plants. The learners will be given a graphic organizer to list the classifications and examples of plants.
        
        Following, the students will be given a poster and markers, as well as arts craft supplies to illustrate the classification of plants, parts of the plant and the functions for each part of the plant. (Assessment). These posters will be presented in the following class prior to the lesson on the classification and characteristics of plants
