Plate boundries
Conservative
This is where 2 plate boundaries are moving side by side. When plates get stuck pressure builds up and when they finally release they cause earthquakes.
-
Constructive
These are where the plates are moving apart from one another. This gap causes they cause earthquakes and volcanoes.

There areas called hot spots, these are areas that are not on plate boundaries, but they have a very thin crust so the magma can burst out.
Due to convection currents in the mantle the plates are always on the move. Convection currents are where the hotter magma from near the core moves up closer to the crust while cooler magma moves down closer to the core.
