Students take a pre-assessment,
then the teacher grades the test and divides the students into 3 groups on the basis of their score.

High performing students
The pre-assessment can be formal or informal.

The teacher adds lines of inquiry to stimulate higher order thinking.
The teacher re-teach with more explanation and connect new material to known material.
