    - - The fee simple subject to condition subsequent is followed by a right of reentry. Unlike the fee simple determinable, nothing happens automatically here. Rather, upon the happening of a future event, the grantor has the right to terminate the grant and take the property back.

        Shifting executory interest
        
        A shifting executory interest automatically shifts the interest to a third party upon the happening of a future event.
        
        Springing executory interest
        
        A springing executory interest provides that the interest reverts to the grantor, but then springs to a third party.
    - - A fee tail can be followed by a remainder or a reversion to the grantor (automatically shifts back to the grantor). A fee tail acts to restrict the holder of the present possessory interest and limit them to pass the property only to their descendants. If the holder of the present possessory interest tries to transfer to anyone else, it will go to someone else as a remainder or the grantor as a reversion.
    - - A life estate is to someone for the length of their life. You can also have a life estate pur autre vie (for the life of another). Like the fee tail, a life estate can be followed by either a remainder or reversion.
