How to Read Fluently.
Vocabulary and Comprehension
Comprehension is the essence of reading, is an strategie.
Comprehension is: Tentative, Proactive, Personal, Transactivy, Thoughful, Imagistic, Inferential, and Reflective.
Vocabulary is basis of a good comprehension: Depends on prior knowledge or knowledge about the world.
Prior knowledge is expressed with words: You cannot construct a meaning unless you have experiences with the world meaning asociated with the topic.
Develop of language immerse students in written and oral language. It develops "naturally"
Way to learn vocabulary: Reading, video, TV, observing.
Strategies can be categorized as: Before you begin reading, As you begin reading, During reading, After reading.
Word recognition: Is decoding the printed squiggles on the page.
Preparing to learn Sight Words: Being able to note tiny visual differences in print detail: Word acquisition "visual discrimination"
Learning Sight Words: Remembering words- The more we read, the more we counter, the more we counter, the more what we remember.
Three major Analisys: Phonics, Context, Structural Analisys.
Analyzing Words using Phonics:Phonemics awarless, Letters-sounds association, and decoding by analogy.
Analysing Words using Context: The meaning around an unknow word is used to make a prediction.
Analysing words using Structural Analysis: Uses parts such as root words, prefixes, sufixes, inflectional endings.
Summarizing word Recognition: Comprehension and words recognition are both taught from the start, is not just about phonics Readers recognize virtually alm words at sight.
Fluency: Is the ability to oraly and silently readtext smoothly and with appropiate phrasing and intonation.
Being fluent in oral and silent reading: How fast or slow one read, weather the phrasing and intonation accurately reflects the meaning in the text
Words per minute: The standar is 90-120 words per minute.
