THINGS THAT DAMAGE OUR BRAIN
No breakfast
Breakfast will provide you with the necessary nutrients to have energy and start the day active. Eating the right foods will make your brain work. Otherwise, it can lead to serious diseases such as: obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes and even the danger of having seizures.
Smoke
Smoking considerably reduces brain matter and oxygen supply to the brain. It has been shown to promote the appearance of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. Heterocyclic amines released when smoking interfere with proper DNA replication, causing mutations that lead to cancer cells
Eat excessively
Eating foods that the body does not need causes an accumulation of residual substances in the form of fats and hardening of the cerebral arteries, which affects their proper functioning.
Not doing physical activity
The journal 'Neurobiology of Aging' mentions that exercising at least three days a week keeps the brain well structured and speeds up its functioning. If you do not do any physical activity, the brain gets old and runs a greater risk of suffering from a disease linked to that organ.
Frequent exposure to polluted environments
The brain constantly needs oxygen, but different toxic substances could interfere with the exchange of gases, transport and processing of oxygen into the cells.
Not getting enough sleep
A person needs eight hours of sleep per night for the brain to rest, in order for the metabolic processes to be carried out correctly with the resulting energy produced, as well as for cell renewal. Being deprived of sleep accelerates the death of brain cells in the short term, and will keep you tired and in a bad mood all the time.
Alcohol consumption
Alcohol can ruin your organs, especially the nervous system, liver, and heart. It impacts the chemical reactions that take place in the brain. It also kills neurons and reduces the speed with which nerve impulses are transmitted. It has been shown that its consumption since adolescence causes irreversible failures in the development of the nervous system.
High sugar intake
By not having a healthy and balanced diet, the brain is affected, leading to serious diseases.
Lack of mental stimuli and exercise
Reading a book or looking up words to stimulate your brain increases learning and memory capacity, as well as reaction time to stimuli. The same happens when you practice any physical activity.
Stress and violence
Stress causes various reactions to the nervous system, some of which reduce mental capacity and also increase the risk of stroke and heart attacks. As for violence, a study from the University of London revealed that an abused children's brain learns to protect itself and becomes hypervigilant, being constantly alert, expectant and active.
