        Dose and route
        delivered through the respiratory tract to the lungs. Dose is one puff for MDI and continuation of the SVN until all medication has been administered or Pt no longer feels the need for the medication.
      - Assisting a Pt with a MDI
        Confirm six rights, remove O2 mask, hand inhaler to Pt, instruct how to breathe and lip seal, instruct Pt to press inhaler and inhale one puff, instruct about breath holding, reapply O2 mask, after a few breaths have Pt repeat dose if order or protocol allows.
      - Assisting a Pt with a SVN
        Confirm six rights, insert medication into container on nebulizer, attach all the pieces and attach to O2 tank. Set flowmeter at 6 L/min. Instruct Pt on how to breathe
- - - - COPD
        can be caused by a result of direct lung and airway damage from repeat infections, or from inhaling of toxic gases but it is mainly caused by cigarettes smoke.
        Most common form is emphysema
  - - - RSV
        causes infection in lungs and breathing passages and can lead to other serious illnesses, highly contagious
        cough, wheezing, fever, dehydration
      - Epiglottitis
        caused by bacterial infection, mainly seen in children, vaccine for it has helped to decrease incidence. dyspnea, high fever, stridor, drooling, difficulty swallowing, severe sore throat, tripod or sniffing position
        
        Hay Fever
        allergic rhinitis caused by an allergic reaction to something, symptoms include runny nose, cough, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes. Can also cause sinus pressure

        Chronic Bronchitis
        Excessive mucus production with airway production
        pulmonary capillary bed undamaged
        Compensation by decreasing ventilation and increasing cardiac output
        poorly ventilated lungs, leading to hypoxemia, increased carbon dioxide retention
